Emilio ‘Red’ Marchionne

Recipient of the Carnegie Medal for Bravery

Emilio J. “Red” Marchionne of East Boston, formerly of Boston’s North End, died in Revere on December 26.

A retiree of the Boston Naval Shipyard and a US Navy veteran of World War II, he was a  member of the National Association of the DAV. “Red” was also the recipient of the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Bravery in 1978, when he risked his life at age 60 to save a person from drowning.

He was the husband of the late Edith M. (Ciampa) Marchionne; devoted father of Elizabeth A. DeSimone of Revere and the late John A. Marchionne; cherished grandfather of Revere Patrolman Mark C. DeSimone and his wife, Lisa and William S. DeSimone and his wife, Jocelyn, all of Revere. He was the adored Great-Grand Papa to Nichols, Nadia, Sophia and Lilah Grace DeSimone and is also lovingly survived by his son in law, William P. DeSimone Sr. of Beverly and his devoted companion Emily Bradford of East Boston and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Lucy Fucillo, Concetta Frusciante, Josephine Trigilio and Joseph Marchionne.

Funeral arrangements were by the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, Revere. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 229 Kent St., Brookline MA02446

John ‘Johnny’ Sarno

Of Malden, formerly of the North End

John P. “Johnny” Sarno of Malden, formerly of Everett and the North End of Boston, died on December 22.

He was the beloved son of the late Edward and Lucy (Infantino) Sarno; loving brother of Carol Reppucci, Kathleen Coppola and Richard Sarno and is also survived by his loving nieces, Lisa McIntosh and Taryn Spinazzola and a nephew, Ryan Thistle as well as the late Ronnie Reppucci.

Tina Cesario

Retired Secretary

Tina R. (Tranquillo) Cesario of Revere died on December 23. She was 89 years old.

Born in the North End of Boston and a retired secretary, she was the beloved wife of Paolo Scimemi of Chelsea; devoted mother of Roseann Costello and husband, James of Revere and the Late Louie Cesario; dear sister of four brothers and one sister; cherished grandmother of three and great-grandmother of five.

Giuseppe ‘Peppino’ Susi

Co-Owner of Abruzzese Meat Market

Giuseppe “Peppino” Susi of Boston’s North End died on December 27. He was 85 years old.

The co-owner of Abruzzese Meat Market on Salem Street for 45 years with his nephew Frank Susi, he was the beloved son of the late Liberata (Di Censo) and Francesco Susi; loving husband of the late Olga (Crugnale) Susi; cherished father of Liberata (Susi) Letteri and her husband, Antonio and Ezio Susi, both of Boston; loving grandfather of Giuseppe and Daniel Letteri, and Kristina, Michael, Alessandra, and Marco Susi; great grandfather of Gia and Dante Letteri; beloved brother of the late Dominic, Vito, Saverio, and Antonio Susi and Iolanda Di Censo and is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces and in-laws.

Americo ‘Rico’ Lepore

Of Woburn, formerly of the North End

Americo R. “Rico” Lepore of Woburn, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on December 25.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of IBEW Local 103.

He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Musto) Lepore; devoted father of Leah Orr of Weston, Florida and Rico Lepore of Heathrow, Florida; loving grandfather of Alyssa, Camryn, Ashley, Gianna, Mirella and Vincent; dear brother of Alfred Lepore of Boston and the late Angelo, Charles, Domenic, Anthony and Nicholas Lepore.
