Stanley Gizzi

Of Melrose, formerly of the North End

Stanley A. Gizzi of Melrose, formerly of the North End, died on December 12.

He was the beloved husband of 56 years of Betty J. (Darrah) Gizzi; devoted father of Patricia Coburn of Melrose and Dennis M. Horgan and his his wife Carolyn of Wakefield; loving grandfather of Heather, Jennifer and Michael Coburn and Haley and Dayna Horgan; cherished great grandfather of Mekhi, Cadence and DeAndra.

Funeral arrangements were by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose. Nicholas ‘Nick’ Bonfiglio

Of Malden, formerly of the North End

Nicholas “Nick” Bonfiglio of Malden, formerly of Boston’s North End,  died on December 8.

He was the beloved son of the late Catina (Buttiglieri) and Joseph Bonfiglio; loving husband of Wilhelmina “Nina” (Saccardo) Bonfiglio; cherished brother of Ann Veneziano of Brighton and her late husband, Rocco, Charles Bonfiglio of Westwood and his late wife, Marie, and Rose Ciccio of Everett and her late husband, Dominic and is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.

J. Theodore DiMasi

True Renaissance Man

J. Theodore DiMasi died on December 8. He was 90 years old.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, his brother, Frank, his stepchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in the North End of Boston, he graduated from Boston University with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, following which he had a long career as a psychologist for the Veterans Administration. He retired to Florida where he spent a number of years working with troubled adolescents and abused teens. He brought joy to his work and his presence was always impressive.

He was a man of humble, Italian immigrant beginnings. He was a true renaissance man; he was a friend, a counselor, a confidant, a teacher, an educator, a sympathizer, an empathizer, a role model and a loved one to share moments with. He lived a great life, a life of love and happiness. His life was special because he touched people’s lives through the strength of his personality and his presence. He brought joy, smiles and a feeling of happiness to so many. Thank you for being our friend!

Donations may be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans. Funeral arrangements were by the Bolea Funeral Home, Mansfield. Burial was in St Mary’s Cemetery.
