It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that the main topic for this Thursday’s (September 1) NEWNC Public Safety meeting with Boston Police will be the recent sexual assault near Garden Court in the North End.
A woman told police she was approached by a man who started to talk to her about 2:30am.
Reportedly the man told her he wanted to come into her home. When she refused, she told police that the man attacked her and sexually assaulted her before running off toward Fleet Street.
Police reported that the man reached out and touched the woman inappropriately.
The incident received State-wide media coverage and had many residents fearful that this type of incident occurred several times in their neighborhood which is considered the safest in Boston.
The assailant was described as 5 foot 6, 150 pounds, wearing a blue pinned stripe shirt, khaki pants, lighter skin Hispanic man with gelled black hair,
Police have cautioned women returning home late night early morning to use discretion and caution.
They also advised residents to report any suspicious people in the area immediately to police.
The incident is under full investigation and police will report any findings at the public meeting scheduled for 6:30pm in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street.
Police will also give an update on any other crimes committed in the neighborhood over the past 30 days.
