Giovanna Falcucci

Of Revere, formerly of the North End

Giovanna (Rinaldo) Falcucci of Revere, formerly of the North End, died on July 18 following a long illness at the Don Orione Nursing Center of East Boston. She was 81 years old.

A Revere resident for more than 25 years, she came to the United States from her native Naples, Italy in 1964, settled in Boston’s North End and the family moved to Revere in 1986. Mrs. Falcucci retired in 1992 from Boston’s Garment District where she worked as a lead seamstress and designer. She worked within the garment industry since her arrival in the USA.

She was the wife of the late Leonardo A., the cherished mother of Michael “Freddie” Falcucci and Archangelo Falcucci, both of Revere, Maria Grace Nicoloro and her husband, Peter of Cambridge, Phillip Falcucci of East Boston, Anthony P. Falcucci and his wife, Sheila and John Falcucci, all of Revere and Angela Sbordone of Boston’s North End and the late Carmela Falcucc who died in May of 2010. She is also lovingly survived by 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a nephew, Nicholas Rinaldo of Avellino, Italy and several other nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late Maria Antonia Rinaldo.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Vertuccio & Smith Home For Funerals, Revere. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Giuseppe Joe Mattaliano

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Giuseppe Joe Mattaliano of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on July 16. He was 54 years old.

He was the beloved son of the late Angelo and Carmela (Schillaci) Mattaliano; loving father of Johnathan and Alexander Mattaliano and step father of Crystal Wright; cherished brother of Salvatore Mattaliano, Lina Favuzza, Giovanni and Alphonso Mattaliano, and the late Rosario Mattaliano and is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral arrangements were by the Rapino Memorial Home, (Maverick Square) East Boston. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Donations may be made in his memory to the Italian Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave Boston, MA 02115.

Ernestine Tortorella

Of Medford, formerly of the North End

Ernestine Tortorella of Medford, formerly of Malden and Boston’s North End, died on July 13.

She was the beloved daughter of Alice (Natale) Tortorella of Medford and the late Lawrence A. Tortorella; devoted sister of Josephine “Jodi” Scola and her husband, Paul of Woburn; dear aunt of Michael Scola and his wife, Amanda of Stoneham, Alycia Leofanti and her husband, Paul of Franklin; loving grand aunt of James and Matthew Leofanti and is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice, 178 Savin Street, Suite 300, Malden, MA 02148. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. For guestbook and obituary: dellorusso.net
