Little League Opening Day in Memory of Tony Iudiciani

-by Phil Orlandella

Tony Iudiciani who lost his life at a very early age will be remembered by the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) at Opening Day of the Major (Little League) Youth Baseball program scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at 1pm.

“Iudiciani who was tragically taken away from us 40 years ago was a great friend to just about everyone who knew him or played baseball or softball with or against him,” NEAA Baseball Coordinator John Romano said.

The opening pitch ceremony will take place at 12:45pm. Tony’s family will throw out the first pitch as the NEAA and game attendees remember a friend.

Opening Day will be a double-header with the first game starting at 1pm and the second contest starting about 20 minutes after the first game.

Attending the Opening Day Memorial Game will be participants from the 2011 NEAA Clinic, T-Ball, Minor and Major League players and their coaches.

“Anyone who would like to make a donation to the NEAA to help defray the cost of our all day BBQ should see Johnny Pagliuca at Mangia, Mangia on Endicott Street,” Romano said.

Pagliuca and Mikey “Fud” Giannasoli are organizing the event and collected donations as well.

“We are grateful to both of them for taking on this major task, their help, support and tireless work for the NEAA,” Romano said.
