North End Crime Down 30%

Boston Police, at a NEWNC Public Safety meeting, said that crime in the North End/Waterfront has decreased thirty percent according to year to year figures.

With the exception of larceny of motor vehicles all other crime categories have also decreased the past thirty days to the tune of twenty-eight percent.

During this time police have written 208 motor vehicle violations and written 432 parking citations.

For the first time in awhile, police responded to two graffiti complaints which the city of Boston cleaned up.

Residents expressed concerns about silent crimes and pet owners not picking-up after their pets in DeFilippo park.

They asked police to try to put additional patrol time in the area.

Roof-top parties and late night street noise has become a problem once again, according to residents who attended the meeting held in the Nazzaro Community Center.

The next NEWNC Public Safety Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, April 7 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street. All residents are encouraged to attend and speak to the police in an open forum.
