Forgetting to pay their taxes

There have been a spate of articles recently about politicians who have failed to pay taxes on their political accounts.

It is incomprehensible to us that politicians seeking the approval of angry voters would tend to be among the most careful among us when it comes to paying their taxes.

Wrong.

In fact, the record is showing that some of our politicians are among the sloppiest when it comes to paying taxes on their political accounts.

In the final analysis, all that matters is that the taxes are paid.

However, voters should be cautioned about politicians who either did not know or who overlooked their duty to pay taxes on their political accounts.

If they couldn’t be depended on to do that, what then can they be depended on to do?
