The World Cup

If you’re a real North End resident of the Italian kind, then you are tending to live or die by the exploits of the Italian team and its best player, Andrea Pirlo.

It is not looking good so far for Italy this time around in the World Cup.

The Italian team is playing their final Group F game against Slovakia on Thursday

That game is a must win.

Pirlo missed the opening 1-1 draw with Paraguay and Sunday’s shock 1-1 draw with New Zealand.

Pirlo is nursing a calf injury, leaving the world champions without their major sparkplug midfielder.

Right now, it is not known if the popular Milan star will be playing on Thursday, said Italian coach Marcello Lippi.

On Thursday, pray for Pirlo to play and for the 2006 champions to repeat their magic against Slovakia.

Reserve your seat early at your favorite North End café or restaurant with a wide screen.

Let’s hope Thursday is a great day for the champions.
